Clothing should be clean, safe, in good taste, and worn in such a way as not to be damaging to floors or furniture. Students should discuss selection of clothing with their parents, keeping in mind that certain styles and dress may not be appropriate for school. Shoes must be worn at all times. Thin-soled shoes such as “flip-flops” are not permitted for safety reasons. Hats may not be worn in the building. Low riding or “below the waist” pants are not acceptable. Bare midriffs, tank tops, and short shorts or skirts are not permitted. Student may not wear anything that promotes drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or that includes explicit, offensive, or sexual language or graphics. Extremes in clothing that disrupt the educational environment are considered inappropriate. Extra T-Shirts and sweatshirts are kept in the principal’s office for students who come to school wearing offensive/inappropriate clothing. Parents may be contacted to bring a change of clothing to school for students whose clothing violates the dress code.
For special functions, such as field trips and school social events, students are to conform to the type of dress deemed appropriate by the sponsors of the function.
