Dear EMS Parents and Guardians,

This letter is to inform you of the new (actually old) bus configuration and parent pickup that will commence on Monday, May 12, 2008. Now that the Eyland Avenue roadwork project is complete, we will be able to have the busses configured in front of the school at the end of the day. This will enable parent pickup to be exclusively on the side of the school by the gymnasium entrance. We will release ALL students at dismissal (2:29PM). Bus students will leave through the front doors of the building, while students being picked up by parents will exit through the side/gym doors. Walkers will have the unique opportunity to exit through either side of the building. This new version of the old procedure should expedite the dismissal process, and make for a safer parent pickup area on the side of the building. We kindly ask that you do not park in front of the school. This area is reserved for handicapped parking and busses only.

Regarding other end of year events, I am happy to announce that the 8th Grade Step-Up Ceremony will be held in the evening at the High School on June 19th from 6PM to 7PM. 8th grade awards will be recognized at this event as well. The dance will be in the middle school gymnasium immediately following the ceremony and will end at 9:30PM. More information about this event will be forthcoming.

There have been questions regarding May 23 and May 27 on the school calendar. The district has used all of the scheduled snow days and, as a result, school will be in session.

Another calendar change is regarding the EMS Band concert location. The May 14th concert will be held in the high school’s auditorium at 7:30PM. Our band program has outgrown the EMS stage, and will need the larger venue to accommodate the musicians.
