ACADEMIC TEAM
ART CLUB: Runs all year -- 3 sessions/6 times. Students sign up for 2 of the 3 sessions. This allows students to work art club around their sports. Students have a chance to explore art media that is not worked on in class as well as work more intensely with materials that are used in class, and making school decorations for special occasions.
BOOK FAIR "CREW":
Student crew helps run the annual "Book Fair" which is held
November 18th - 20th, 2008. Sign-ups begin mid-October. Applications
available in the Media Center, September 2008. One after-school training session will
be held in October. Students help make the Fair successful by
learning and performing one or more of the following responsibilities:
Child Care Providers; Customer Service Specialists; Decoration/Promotion
Specialists; Loss Prevention/Safety Specialists; or a Project Specialist.

BUILDERS CLUB: Middle School version of Kiwanis, Key Club, K-Kids. Meets every 2 weeks, 2:30 - 3:30 and does community service projects such as, Hunger Walk, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches for shelter, Pet Food Drive, Cards for Nursing Home, etc.
CHESS CLUB:
Join us as we start our second year at Eisenhower Middle
School! The club meets twice a month in September, October, and
November, and once in December on Tuesdays.
Sign up forms are available in the media center. No chess experience necessary to join and it is easy
to learn the game. Mini-Tournaments are scheduled each month with a school -
wide tournament scheduled for April 7th, 2009. Over 140 students
participated in our chess program last year. As a result, a
CHESS TEAM was formed for the 2008/2009 school year
and will compete against other schools throughout the local area
during the months of January, February, and March. (See

CANINE CLUB
DRAMA CLUB: Audition and Rehearse for EMS musicals -- actors, dancers, singers, and crew. November--info meeting; December--auditions; January--rehearsals begin; End of March/Early April--SHOW TIME.
ENCORES: Performs at the Winter and Spring Vocal Concerts at a higher level of difficulty and more varied style of music than 7th and 8th grade choir. Runs from September thru May.

MATH TEAM
NEWSPAPER CLUB: Runs all year, meeting approximately twice each month at 7:30 AM. Students write about events, clubs, activities, etc., that take place here at EMS. Some students create monthly columns such as a movie review, horoscope, etc., while others write short stories and poetry.
PEER LEADERS--8th GRADERS ONLY: Dedicated to helping prevent students from using drugs and alcohol. Focuses on student development through team building, public speaking, and education about drugs and alcohol. Leaders act as mentors to the 6th graders through four prepared outreaches in the spring. Application process is in the spring of the 7th grade year.
REBEL2: Brand new program beginning fall 2007 --NJ's statewide middle-school, youth led tobacco program. Focuses on educating students about tobacco through team building, prevention skills, community action, and presentations to the 5th graders.
STUDENT COUNCIL: Runs all year. Members involved in community and school related activities, such as: Toys for Tots for Roxbury, food drives, dances, etc. 8th grade officer elections are held in the spring of the 7th grade year--homeroom representative elections are in the fall.
YEARBOOK CLUB: Involves all aspects of publishing--design layout, writing, photography, proofreading, editing, advertising, marketing, publicity and sale. Students also learn cooperation, dedication, time management, and responsibility.
SPORTS
PHYSICALS AND MEDICAL QUESTIONNAIRE ARE REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION
BASKETBALL: Runs from November thru end of January. 2 days of tryouts the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
CROSS COUNTRY: Co-ed September.
GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY: Girls 7th and 8th: Begins early September thru end of October.
TRACK: Co-ed April.
WRESTLING: Co-ed November.
