EMS: How long have you been playing?
TK: I’ve been playing since fifth grade. I played for rec.
EMS: What’s your favorite part of the game?
TK: My favorite part is when I get the rebounds.
EMS: Has basketball always come easily to you?
TK: Pretty much. Since I’ve played it for a while, it’s a lot easier. The height helps. (Laughs)
EMS: How much play time do you get on average?
TK: I usually play around 2 ½ - 3 quarters
EMS: Has playing last year helped you become a stronger player this year?
TK: Yeah, it helped me a lot. I wasn’t used to memorizing and play and stuff…it really helped.
EMS: Would you recommend trying out for the team?
TK: Definitely. Being on the team is a lot of fun. You get closer to the girls as the season goes on. And even if you don’t make it, the try-outs are fun, too.
EMS: Do you ever practice on your own?
TK: If I do, I just shoot around in my driveway. That’s really it. I practice my lay-ups and stuff.
EMS: What motivates you to win?
TK: My teammates and coach.

EMS: Would you say you get a fair amount of play time?
CB: My coach tries to play us in way that we’ll win. I think that’s fair. I’m happy with my play time- I think I get a lot for a 7th grader.
EMS: What is your favorite part of the game?
CB: My favorite part is the intensity. Like in the fourth quarter, when the scores is tight and time is running low.
EMS: How long have you been playing basketball, and what teams?
CB:
I’ve played since 3rd grade- on rec. From 4th-6th grade CYO. And travel in 6th, too. This year I do CYO (St. Therese Tornadoes) and school.
EMS: In your spare time do you practice basketball? What are some drills you do?
CB:I practice on my own if I have time. My brother and I usually play a one-on-one.
EMS: Do you enjoy your teammates and like being with the?
CB: I enjoy my teammates. I have things in common with each and everyone one of them, and I like hanging out with them.
EMS: Would you recommend trying out for the team?
CB: Yeah, I would. Its fun being with all the girls I don’t normally get to hang out with in school.
EMS: Is basketball something you’re going to stick with?
CB: I think I will stick with basketball. I’d love to be able to play in college. I love the competition and meeting new people through the sport.

This past Friday many of my fellow students and I journeyed up to Shawnee Mt. in Pennsylvania. The bus ride was pretty slow but when we got there everything was great. The snow conditions were perfect and everyone that I interviewed had a wonderful time. Since the temperature was perfect, there was a lot of snow making so it was a lot of fun to ride down many of the 23 trails. There were also some additions to Shawnee. There are now many more boxes, rails, and jumps at the two awesome terrain parks. The lodge also looks as if some improvements were made. The food at dinner time tasted pretty good as well. I think they received some new ski and snowboard rentals this time because my snowboard had no scratches or broken bindings. My board gave me a lot of speed and it handled very well too. When it was time to leave, all of the kids and I were very sad to go, but excited for the next time back up to Shawnee.
