Presents

David Greenberg
Award-Winning Author/Poet/Illustrator

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be welcoming David Greenberg to help us celebrate Read Across America Week. Mr. Greenberg will be sharing with us his newest book, A Tugging String, a novel about his father’s time as Dr. Martin Luther King’s lead attorney. In his program, Mr. Greenberg will describe the attitudes, emotions, events, and personalities of the civil rights movement. He will also discuss the craft of writing, the fierce perseverance necessary to succeed, and the various elements that “activate” his work.

On the day of our visit, students will be able to purchase their own copy of A Tugging String and have it personalized by the author. This is an exciting opportunity to own and/or present someone with the gift of an autographed book! Mr. Greenberg is also well known for his hilarious poetry, and we encourage you to consider his other books for the younger folks in your family, as well as friends. Please complete the order form on back  and bring it to school on March 3rd, along with either cash or check made payable to David Greenberg.  Forms will be collected, and we will do our best to have all orders filled by end-day.

PTA REFLECTIONS PROGRAM

The National PTA Reflections Program is an annual theme-based art competition which encourages students to express themselves in art.  Six art categories are recognized:  Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography and Visual Arts.  With no limit to the number of entries one may submit, a student will often submit an entry in the art area in which he or she feels most competent and another entry in an art area that is new and challenging.
