Amid an increasingly global economy and nearly
instant access to virtually unlimited information, children must
acquire far more knowledge at an earlier age than in past decades.
Educators of even the youngest children must deliver programs
aimed at molding children into adults capable of functioning with
a high degree of success in the 21st Century. Franklin School
is meeting this challenge with a two-pronged approach. One, is
to have a well-trained staff capable of dealing with the needs
of our students and parents. Two, is to have a technologically
advanced school environment, which emulates the world that our
students live in and one day will work in.
Our teaching staff is the bedrock of Franklin
School. The majority of our teachers have obtained their Masters
Degree and the remainder of the staff, are in the process of achieving
this standard. Professional development is a vital concern. Our
teachers attend workshops, in addition to college work, to develop
and maintain their proficiency. Everything we are all about is
lifelong learning. As we refine our skills as educators we, in
turn, want to develop in young children a love of learning.
Our technology infused classrooms and computer
lab helps young children become inquisitive self-learners. Aided
by our teachers, even kindergarten children use the computer,
Internet and other forms of technology for research and understanding.
Our school motto “Excellence in Education” epitomizes
this school’s effort to foster a culture of academic excellence
with an emphasis on technology and human relations.
Franklin School teachers hold the torch high
and expect children to light it. Though high, the standards are
realistic and challenging. The vehicle through which we channel
a coordination of reading, writing, literature, math, science
and social studies is the Thematic Unit. The children are exposed
to five or six thematic units during the school year. Classroom
instruction coupled with an outstanding media, enrichment, computer
and special support system provide the backbone of our educational
program. We invite you to learn more about our school and our
school district at, www.roxbury.org.
Our vision is to nurture the intellectual, physical, emotional
and social growth of each student. Franklin School has been a
recent recipient of the following awards:
A+ For Students - “Caldecott Book
Award”
