FOUNDER OF CHALLENGER LEAGUE VISITS EMS

Recently, Reuben Fuentes, who six years ago started The Morris County Challenger League to offer children with disabilities an opportunity to be part of a sports team, visited Eisenhower Middle School.

Mr. Fuentes, having been able to walk for the first 24 years of his life, is now wheelchair bound after getting injured and becoming a quadriplegic.  As a result of this, Mr. Fuentes has an understanding of what children in the Challenger League are faced with on a daily basis.

The Challenger League runs programs in bowling, soccer, and basketball. The organization is for children in Morris County, as well for anyone with a disability.

On Saturday, May 8, 2004, the Challenger Baseball League played in Roxbury at Horseshoe Lake. Forty-five students from Eisenhower Middle School volunteered their time to make this event a success for all participants.  Krista Pioppi, a seventh grader at EMS, sang the National Anthem.
