Fourth Grade students of Lincoln/Roosevelt School have been busy enjoying a variety of hands on math activities, which have had them learning and reinforcing a host of mathematical concepts.
On March 12, 2004, there was a mathematical buzz in the
Lincoln School Auditorium as these students were engaged in a series of math stations. These stations included a “grocery store”, where the
students created a grocery list, estimated their spending and then
confirmed their actual spending with a calculator.
In another station
entitled, Negative Numbers, the students worked cooperatively to build a human
number line, which was reflective of positive and negative numbers. They then applied this concept to the reading of
thermometers.
Show Me the
Money, Tanagrams, Area Perimeter and Volume and Geometry Nets were just a few of
the other stations, which the students had the opportunity to experience
throughout the morning.
