November 21, 2003, Succasunna, NJ… The New Jersey Department of Education will be monitoring the Roxbury School District’s special education programs and services during the month of December.
As part of the monitoring process, the public is invited to participate in a public meeting to comment on the district’s efforts in providing special education programs and services to students. This meeting will take place on December 3, 2003 at 6:30 PM in the Eisenhower Middle School, IDU Room.
Representatives of the NJDOE will attend this meeting to gather and record information regarding the following questions:
ü Do students with disabilities receive special education and related services that promote high quality education?
ü Do students with disabilities have access to the general education curriculum in the least restrictive environment?
ü Are students, ages 14 and older, being prepared to successfully transition to work, independent living or additional education (ex. College, trade school) services that facilitate successful transition from school to work or from school to post-secondary education?
ü Are parents involved in the education of their child with a disability?
ü Are there any administrative barriers to providing appropriate services to students with disabilities?
ü By the child’s third birthday, does transition planning result in the provision of needed supports and services to a child and the child’s family?
