Since the 2003/2004 school year, the Science Department at Roxbury High School has been busy creating and maintaining a Nature Trail. Funding to initiate this project was awarded to Mrs. Dale Weaver, Environmental Science Teacher at Roxbury High School. This grant in the amount of $500.00 came from Walmart in Ledgewood, New Jersey.
Mrs. Weaver comments, “The grant was given to a teacher that would promise to use the monies to beautify and / or improve the environment of their school building.” Upon receipt of the grant, Mrs. Weaver shared the monies with Mrs. Julie Bohrer’s Advanced Placement Biology Class. It was at this time that Mrs. Bohrer and her students began the Nature Trail at Roxbury High School.
While the initial grant was key to the development of the trail, additional funds were needed to further develop and upkeep the trail. As a result, Mrs. Bohrer wrote Walmart asking if they would be willing to donate additional funds to the nature trail, which they so kindly supported in the past school year.
Again, Walmart has generously awarded Roxbury High School with a $500.00 grant to maintain their Nature Trail.
