ROXBURY TO SHOWCASE INNOVATIVE EXAMPLES OF EDUCATIONAL COMPUTING

The Roxbury School District has been invited by the NJECC (New Jersey Education Computer Consortium) to their annual conference to showcase how Roxbury Public Schools infuse technology into instruction using Max’s Sandbox software.

This year’s NJECC Conference, with the theme of No Teacher Left Behind:  Digital Directions in the Classroom, is scheduled for March 16, 2004 at Montclair University.

Representing the Roxbury School District at this conference will be: Helen Doran – computer teacher at Jefferson School, Mrs. Karen Carlson – Supervisor of Applied Sciences (K-5), Mrs. Patricia Bihon – Supervisor of Humanities (K-5) and Mrs. Lily Chang – Supervisor of Technology.  Mrs. Debbie Engelman – computer teacher at Franklin School was invited to present as well, but will be unable to attend, due to a conflict in scheduling.

Their presentation entitled, Preparing Elementary Students for Microsoft Professional Office Tools with Max’s Sandbox, will showcase how Roxbury infuses technology into the curriculum.  They will provide insight into how Max’s Sandbox software addresses the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.  They will share lesson plans, interdisciplinary activities and resources on the various Max’s Sandbox components.  They will also stress the importance of collaborative efforts on behalf of teachers and administrators in order to achieve this infusion.

In order to globally share the power point presentation and resources, which they will be using at the conference, they are posting all information at http://www.roxbury.org/staffdev/Lesson_Plans.htm
