SIXTH GRADE FAIR DAY

The Lincoln/Roosevelt School in Roxbury Township had their annual Fair Day on June 21, 2004.

Mrs. Gwen Johnson, who had a small fair set up for the Fourth Grade students in the Lincoln Gymnasium, initiated fair Day.  The students in her class had simple game booths and awarded the participants from the Fourth Grade with stickers and homemade bookmarkers.

As the years progressed, the idea grew and the entire school became involved.  There were some years where there was a general theme and other years when each grade took a country and developed a banner or a float for the opening of the Fair Day Parade.  All booths reflected some aspect of that country or tradition.

A scholarship was initiated in 1989 by Lincoln/Roosevelt School and renamed this year to the Lincoln/Roosevelt Staff Memorial Scholarship Fund.  The proceeds of Fair Day are used for scholarships for our Roxbury Seniors who had attended Lincoln/Roosevelt School.
