Academic
Decathlon is a club that is geared toward studying and preparing for a 10-part
competition in the spring. Students involved in the Academic Decathlon and
their advisor, Ms. Bohdanka
Connolly, meet on a weekly basis to discuss History,
Art, Music and English. They also
create speeches and prepare for the Super Quiz, a competition much like
Jeopardy.
Students
are required to read ahead so that they can discuss the above listed topics,
using a variety of medias - the overhead, movies, PowerPoint, art visuals and
listening to music of composers chosen for the year.
This
year the theme for the Academic Decathlon is ancient civilizations for
history and art. Composers being studied this year are
Mozart, Beethoven and Hayden.
