ROXBURY PARTICIPATES IN TECHNOLOGY RECYCLING EVENT

On April 29, 2005, the Roxbury School District participated in a Technology Recycling Event that was hosted by Intel, Inc. located in Parsippany, New Jersey.

This recycling event, which was FREE to the Roxbury School District, offered the district a wonderful opportunity, at no cost to the district, to dispose of any old technology equipment, such as computers, monitors, printers, peripherals, TVs, VCRs, Faxes, copiers, typewriters, radios and stereo equipment.  If the district did not participate in this event, disposal of all obsolete equipment would have cost the district an additional, substantial amount of money.

Mrs. Lily Chang, District Supervisor of Technology comments, “This was a successful project because of the teamwork displayed amongst principals, computer teachers, media specialists, directors, faculty, staff, Roxbury Computer Services technicians and the district’s Building and Grounds staff.”  “The amount of money that we were able to save by participating in this event was substantial.  We discarded over 150 obsolete monitors.  By law, the district would have had to pay at least $7.00 per unit to have an EPA approved vendor to discard them.”

A bonus to participating in the Intel, Inc. Recycling event was that the district  received a free  oscilloscope for the Roxbury High School Industrial Arts Department, as well as a few work bench units from Intel.
