PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION BRINGS ON A HOST OF LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

As the nation looked towards the 2004 Presidential election, students throughout the Roxbury School District were using the election as a learning event.

At Eisenhower Middle School, Team 8S held a mock press conference for the elections.  Students played the parts of the candidates and their running mates.  Other students presented their stands on the issues and analyzed them while using a power point presentation.

The rest of the students on Team 8S were divided into 6 public relations teams; 3 for each candidate.  They were competing for the “Best Team Awarded” by creating an assortment of materials to promote their candidate.  Methods for advertising the candidates were the creation of a web page, television ad, brochure, campaign buttons, bumper stickers, banners, billboards and posters.
