Second Annual Miniature Golf Outing to Benefit Roxbury Education Foundation

Volunteer organization raises funds for programs in Roxbury Public Schools

The Roxbury Foundation for Excellence in Education (RFEE) will host the Second Annual Miniature Golf Outing on Sunday, May 1st from 11-3pm at the Golf Zone in Flanders. The event will raise funds for RFEE’s 2005-2006 teacher grant program.

The Second Annual Miniature Golf Outing will be an event for the whole family.  Activities will include 18 holes of miniature golf, hole-in-one prizes and drawings for gifts donated by local merchants.  “This year’s event promises to be a great time for everyone – young and old, teacher, kids and parents alike,” says Bob Shortridge of the RFEE’s Fundraising Committee.  “Because all the proceeds from the outing benefit the Roxbury Public Schools, everyone’s a winner!”

Support from the local business community is key to the success of the RFEE Second Annual Miniature Golf Outing.   Sharing the spotlight as the two major sponsors for this year’s event are Suburban Furniture and Little Learner Academy.  Other key sponsors include The Bug Masters, Shop Rite of Succasunna, Roxbury Diner, Spectrum Construction and Development Co. Inc, The Black River Barn, Eyland Shell, West Morris Pediatrics and West Morris Dental Associates.

Those interested in participating in the Miniature Golf Outing are encouraged to register ahead of time by calling Bob Shortridge at 973-584-6224, Dave Johnston at 973-252-1577 or by e-mail: rfee@optonline.net.  The cost is $6 per player.

The RFEE was incorporated in May 2001 in order to enhance the quality and scope of educational opportunities for the students in the Roxbury Township Public Schools.  It is an independent, non-profit organization with a Board of Trustees comprised of volunteers from the Roxbury community. The RFEE gave out several grants – over $5,000 - for programs that are being implemented in the Roxbury Public Schools during the 2004 – 2005 year.  Grants awarded for the 2005 -2006 academic year will be announced in June.
