ROXBURY MODELS USE OF TECHNOLOGY FOR OTHER DISTRICTS

Recently, Lincoln/Roosevelt’s computer teacher, Mrs. Terry Negin, welcomed teachers from the Summit School District into the school’s computer lab.

The visiting teachers came to observe how Mrs. Negin infuses technology into the fifth and sixth grade curriculums.  One facet of the integration that the visiting teachers were particularly interested in was the use of the SMART Board, an interactive technological teaching tool.

During this visit, fifth grade students presented their “How to Handle a Bully” Slide Shows, which were created in conjunction with Mrs. Negin, as well as Mrs. Roxanne Benbow & Mrs. Gina LaCapra, Lincoln/Roosevelt Guidance Counselors.  Sixth grade students shared rubrics, which they had created.  According to Mrs. Negin, The students enjoyed showcasing their technological skills to the educators.”

The Roxbury School District’s Supervisor of Technology, Mrs. Lily Chang, arranged this visit.  Mrs. Chang met a representative of the Summit School District at a NJECC conference, which she attended last year.  From what Mrs. Chang shared with the representative at this conference, the representative asked to come and observe some of the impressive things that the Roxbury School District has been doing with regards to technology.
