The students in Mrs. Michelle Leibowitz’s Roxbury High School English 1 Honors class recently concluded the reading of The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. As a follow up to this reading, the students were charged with creating a “wailing wall,” which reflected the themes in the book. This wall now depicts writings done by the students describing their concerns for various things.
According to Mrs. Eva Gale, Supervisor of Humanities – Grades 6-12, “ All of teachers who are using Secret Life of Bees in their freshman English classes are excited by the way students have received this novel. It has sparked creative assignments and discussions in all of the classes.”
