On May 27, 2005, The Early Act Club of Franklin School sponsored a Walk-A-Thon. The club’s goal was to earn enough funds to purchase a defibrillator for the school, as well as complete their goal of raising funds to purchase a water filter for a family in Honduras, which is also part of a Roxbury Rotary project entitled, Pure Water for the World.
The students of Franklin School walked around a track for a 40 minute
period. Sponsors were
asked to pledge either a flat amount of money or an amount per lap.
The Roxbury Rotary Club initiated the collection with a donation of
$500.00 to the cause.
According to Mrs. Carol Pellet, Early Act Club Advisor, “The Walk-a-Thon was a huge success and the Early Act Club looks forward to using the monies raised to support such worthwhile causes.”
