The Roxbury Community School invites parents of prospective and current college students to a presentation about college privacy laws.
How can you gain knowledge of your child’s financial records, academic transcripts/grades, or discipline related matters? The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student educational records and gives parents certain rights with respect to their children’s educational records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. FERPA requires that institutions adhere strictly to these guidelines.
These questions and more will be answered in this dynamic session for parents of college-aged students. Presenter, Ms. Melissa Ingwersen, Dir. of Judicial Affairs at Ramapo College of New Jersey holds a Master’s degree in Public Information, Government and Law from Seton Hall University and is widely recognized on the college circuit for presentations in Judicial Affairs.
Register early to reserve your space in an effort to learn about laws that pertain to one of your largest financial investments. The program will be held, Wednesday, June 7, 2006 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Roxbury High School, 1 Bryant Drive, Succasunna. The cost is $15.00.
