Students, staff, and administrators at the Eisenhower Middle School did not let rain deter them from celebrating their gift as they joined together to thank the Morristown Memorial Hospital staff for their participation in Project Fit America (PFA).
With music booming and students roaring with excitement,
the Eisenhower football players and cheerleaders joined together to celebrate
the new fitness circuit which included hula-hoop challenges, stair climbing
contests, and a monkey bar bonanza. Eisenhower
Principal, Mr. Daniel Johnson was energized by the feeling of school pride and
the gratitude his students demonstrated towards Morristown Memorial.
Mr. Johnson said, “We are fortunate to have the backing of two tremendous
organizations, Project Fit America and Morristown Memorial Hospital, as we work
towards teaching healthy lifestyles for all our youth.”
Mr. Johnson also thanked the hard work put forth by his staff to make
this idea a reality, “ In addition, the Physical Education Staff, Mr. Michael
Parker, Ms. Jennifer Early, Ms. Sarah Belcher, Mr. George Orlando, Mr. Joe
Gangemi, and Mr. Justin Spargo, has been an asset to our students with their
efforts in bringing this opportunity to fruition,” said Mr. Johnson.
This public charity, whose goal is to support outstanding
work for youth health and wellness, donated an outdoor fitness circuit,
curriculum resources, and teacher training.
Project Fit America has donated over 60 set-ups to schools
around the country all of which has been made possible through the cooperation
of Health Industries such as Morristown Memorial.
In addition to the equipment, PFA has sent a trainer to work with the
staff at Eisenhower Middle School to train them in the proper usage of all of
the equipment, the curriculum, and the ancillary items.
Eisenhower Middle School was selected out of dozens of schools around the
area to receive this grant made possible through the hard work of the physical
education staff.
The Roxbury School district appreciates the generosity of Morristown Memorial Hospital and looks forward to promoting continued health and wellness for the students at Eisenhower Middle School through Project Fit America.
