EISENHOWER MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOST COMMUNITY BOOK FAIR

Students from Eisenhower Middle School will host a special book fair from Scholastic, called “The Exchange,” from December 11 – 15, 2006, to help purchase a new "sign maker" for the school.

"The Exchange" will feature a wide range of books for young teens and adults, including mystery and adventure novels, fantasy trilogies, sports guides, anime, cookbooks, and the latest bestsellers from more than 150 publishers.  Books are also available for students in grades 4, 5, and 6.

Over 60 student volunteers helped plan the fair and will also assist with running the fair. From creating special promotions to merchandising and managing inventory to assisting shoppers with their selections, student volunteers are learning life skills while helping to make reading for pleasure more acceptable and cool at their school.  “Our Student Crew is working very hard to put on a great book fair event – one that promotes literacy and reading, while at the same time raising money for much-needed school resources,” said Mr. J. Mittag, Media Specialist at Eisenhower Middle School. Fair attendees can help build classroom libraries by purchasing books for teachers through the Classroom Wish List program.  Proceeds will also be used to purchase essential classroom resources and support school projects at Eisenhower.  Sponsorships are also available.

"The Exchange" will be open Monday - Wednesday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm; Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Parents, children, teachers and members of the community are invited to attend.  Area businesses interested in making a donation are asked to contact Mr. Mittag at 973-584-2973.
