One hundred and fifty Jefferson Elementary School students participated in the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Math-a-thon. During the Math-a-thon, they had to complete math problems either by using a workbook or a CD supplied by the organization. Aside for doing a good deed for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the participants (depending on the amount of money that each raised) received certificates, tee shirts, free passes to Great Adventure, and backpacks.
Jefferson School Principal Mrs. Karen Carlson is very proud of her students, "I am incredibly proud of our students, and honored to be part of an educational family that continually demonstrates a commitment to helping others. The success of our Math-a-thon is just one example of how the education of our children involves a partnership between the school and the homes. Our children are learning valuable lessons about the power we have - individually and collectively - to make a positive difference in the world."
This fundraiser has ended and, as I indicated, the total donation is $10,055.47. The school also received a plaque from St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and a 20" television DVD/VCR combo!
