Both Visual and Performing artists were present at the Premier of “Violins on Parade” at the Music Den in the Ledgewood Mall on Saturday, February 10, 2007.
In a collaborative effort between the Roxbury High School Visual Arts Department and the Roxbury Orchestra Parents Association, twelve violins, which had been uniquely designed and transformed into pieces of art, made their debut to the general public. Roxbury High School students designed these incredible works of art to be raffled off as a fundraiser. If you are not able to go to the mall you may see photos of the violins at http://www.roxburyorchestra.com/viewviolins.html.
Raffle tickets are being sold for these unique creations and the proceeds will go towards scholarships and special programs for both visual and performing arts students.
Violins will be raffled off at the Spring Concert on May 15, 2007. Tickets are still available by contacting Denise Tyler at (973) 252-8752. The violins will continue to be displayed at the Ledgewood Mall and raffle tickets will be sold now through the end of the school year. For further information visit www.roxburyorchestra.com.
