ROXBURY SCHOOL DISTRICT PLANS FOR AN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

The Roxbury School District proudly announces plans for an Early Childhood Center at the Berkshire Valley School.

The Roxbury Township Town Council offered the Berkshire Valley School to the Board of Education in order to expand programs. The Board of Education eagerly accepted the offer and the administration has plans underway to utilize this new facility as an Early Childhood Center. Mrs. Diane Mari, Director of Special Services, stated that the administration is currently researching the capacity of the Berkshire Valley School facility.

The Roxbury School District will use a State approved, "Creative Curriculum" for the Early Childhood Center and will continue to work with the State in order to implement this new program in our district. According to Mrs. Diane Mari, "research shows that students who participate in early childhood educational programs are better transitioned into kindergarten."

The target date to open this facility is September 2008. The public is invited for a special presentation at the October 15th Board of Education Meeting at 7:30 pm to learn about the Early Childhood Center. The meeting will be held in the Team Room at Eisenhower Middle School. The community will be invited to provide input through a series of surveys the district is preparing.
