On Sunday, February 24, 2008, the Roxbury Varsity Ice Hockey team won the HAAS Cup and capping a season which has seen them go 16-0 in league play, and 21-0-1 over the course of the season.

This is the first time in the history of the program that the Gaels have brought home a league cup or gone undefeated over the course of the season.  Throughout the season, Roxbury has received strong leadership from Captains Ryan Doll (Sr), Mike DeFeo (Sr.), and Chris Schultz (Jr.).  They have been led offensively by forwards Cory Kendelski (Jr), Sean Mertens (Jr), Jeff Kuper (Fr), Mike Maccione (Jr), and defensively by defenseman Ryan Doll, Chris Schultz, Mike DeFeo, and Adam Rayho (Jr).  Joe Streko (Jr) has been solid in goal all season long.  Their success this season is a result of hard work and diligent focus. Using the slogan, "Individual commitment to a group effort," as a team mantra, the Gaels unity and dedication as a team has been evident throughout the season. When asked if he was proud, Varsity Coach, Jonathan Benbow said, "I've never been prouder to call myself Coach. They are a great group of kids that make it easy and fun to go to practice everyday."

The Gaels look for continued success as they take their undefeated record to the State Playoffs against Livingston on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 7:30 pm at Aspen Ice in Randolph.
