ROXBURY HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCES SPRING MUSICAL CRAZY FOR YOU
The Broadway Musical, Crazy For You, will be presented by the Roxbury Performing Arts Department on Thursday, March 6th at 7:30 pm, Friday, March 7th at 7:30 pm, and Saturday, March 8th at 2:00pm and 7:30 pm. The show, billed as “the new Gershwin musical comedy” is the quintessential American musical. It is a reflection of the “thirties’ musical” that was written in the nineties featuring the great musical classics of George Gershwin. It is a celebration of the power of music and theatre to transform people’s lives.
Roxbury’s production of Crazy For You features 68 cast members, 30 crew members and 13 musicians who are talented students giving their time, talent and energy to this production.
The story starts in New York City and introduces Bobby Child, played by Aaron Riesebeck, an aspiring singer/dancer who wants to change his life of banking to a life of performing. Bobby’s dream is to work for the great Follies Producer, Bela Zangler, played by Jimmy Conlan. Bobby has two women in his life blocking his dream of performing on stage, his fiancée, the socialite Irene, played by Joelle Matilsky, and his mother, played by Allison McKay. Mother sends Bobby to Deadrock, Nevada to foreclose on a property (which happens to be an old theatre) that is owned by Polly, played by Krista Pioppi, who is an energetic and attractive young woman. As soon as Bobby enters Deadrock, he falls head over heels for Polly, and hopes to save her theatre by bringing members of the NY “Zangler’s Follies” out to Deadrock. Bobby meets many interesting Deadrock characters including Lank, played by Zack Grawehr, and the cowboy Trio, played by Paul Hopper, Jack Hoferer, and Tim Taylor. All the NY characters mixing with the Deadrock folk, bring some very interesting and funny plot twists that the audience will enjoy while wondering how it will all work out. Along the way, you will be entertained by dazzling dances and energetic production numbers. Come out and see a great Broadway Classic delivered with style by the fine performers of Roxbury High School.
The show is Produced and Directed by Lorraine Lynch with the Production Team of Music and Drama Director - Patrick Hachey, Choreographer – Rebecca Pietras, Accompanist and Technical Director – Dan Salyerds, Pit Conductor – Richard Hartsuiker, and Costumer Pat Rogers.
