DIRECTOR OF CHORAL ACTIVITIES RECEIVES HONOR

Ms. Lorraine Lynch, Director of Choral Activities at Roxbury High School, has been named the Conductor of the 2005 New Jersey All State Mixed Chorus.  This opportunity will allow Ms. Lynch to share her talents with colleagues and students at the state level.

In the capacity of Conductor, Ms. Lynch will direct selected New Jersey high school students in a series of practices, which will ultimately lead to select performances.  The first showcase of the Mixed Chorus will be that will be held in Atlantic City from Wednesday, November 9, 2005 to Friday, November 11, 2005.  These performances will be followed by another performance at NJPAC on Sunday, November 20, 2005. 

Ms. Lynch has been the Choral Director at Roxbury High School for 20 years.  She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Indian University and a Master of Music in Music Education from Rutgers University.

At Roxbury High School, Ms. Lynch has developed a vocal music program that now has seven choral classes at four curricular levels with more than 270 students participating.  The program includes several extracurricular ensembles highlight vocal, jazz, madrigals, and concert choir repertoire.  Her choirs have consistently received superior and first place rating at state and national festivals.  Ms. Lynch has developed the Roxbury Choir Invitation, which has become known as one of the premier concert, jazz and show choir festivals in the Northeast.

Ms. Lynch is a sought after clinician in the areas of Concert Choir, Show Choir, Jazz Choir and Men’s Choir.  She has conducted workshops at many conventions and festivals including the All Eastern Music Educators Convention, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Convention and the New Jersey Educators Association.  She was honored to conduct the North Jersey Region Chorus in March 1999 and the All Sussex County Chorus in 1996.  In 1991, Ms. Lynch was selected by her colleagues to receive the Governors Teacher of the Year Award.  She presently serves on the New Jersey American Choral Directors Association Board as Chair of Jazz/Show Choirs.
