ROXBURY TEACHER’S LESSON PLANS TO INFLUENCE MANY

Congratulations to Ms. Davida Nitka, Computer Teacher at Nixon School!   A lesson plan, which she submitted to the Earthwatch Institute, has been selected for use on the organization’s website: www.earthwatch.org.  Soon educators from all over the world will be able to implement Ms. Nitka’s creative ideas in their classrooms.

Ms. Nitka was sponsored by a fellowship from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. The Foundation sponsors Earthwatch Institute, an organization, which “promotes the sustainable conservation of natural resources and cultural heritage by creating partnerships among scientists, the general public, educators and businesses.”

As part of Ms. Nitka’s obligation to Earthwatch, she was responsible for submitting a lesson plan where in she utilized information learned during her expedition.  Countless teachers will now utilize the lesson plan, which Ms. Nitka has already implemented in her Nixon School classroom, across the nation.

Anna Janovicz, from the Earthwatch Education Department offered the following to Ms. Nitka, “Thanks again for supporting the Earthwatch mission in your classroom and community!”

Ms. Nitka’s lesson plan will be downloadable from the Earthwatch website in PDF format and will display her name, school and the expedition in which she participated.
