On Sunday, October 20, 2002, 30 students from the Eisenhower Middle
School’s Builder’s Club and Student Council participated in the
Hunger Walk 2002, an event that benefits the Community Soup Kitchen of
Morristown. They started out at the Soup Kitchen where each participant
received a card containing a story about an individual who, during one
period of his/her life, was supported by the soup kitchen.
Throughout the three-mile
walk were stations where the participants collected more cards with the
continuing story of a person’s life.
The Eisenhower students
raised over $1500 in pledges for their participation in the walk.
In addition, students at
the school collected over $200 (mostly in pennies), which they donated to
the Community Soup Kitchen. |
