Students
in the Roxbury School District recently competed in their annual grade level
Spelling Bees.
The top speller from each fourth and fifth grade homeroom in Lincoln/Roosevelt (LR), Jefferson (J) and Kennedy (K) Schools was invited to take part in the Bright Ideas District Wide 4th and 5th Grade Spelling Bee on February 24, 2004.
The
top 11 spellers from this competition will now go on to take part in The New
Jersey Consortium for Gifted and Talented Spelling Bee on Thursday, April 29,
2004 in Lincoln Park.
These 11 spellers, in order of competition placement, are: Jeff Kuper (LR), Magan Zanes (LR), Kerrie DeVito (LR), Courtney Schmidt (LR), Patrick Sibel (J), Aaron Bryant (LR), Ryan Brooks(LR), David Ward (K), William Harrigan (LR), Navya Maddali(J) and Steven Wallace (K).
The Lincoln/Roosevelt Fifth and Sixth graders also had a spelling bee on Friday, January 23. In the Fifth and Sixth Grade Bees, Samantha Sherrer took First Place, Joseph Rozanitis took Second Place and Robert Wallace took Third Place. Samantha Sherrer will now compete in a Northern New Jersey Bee at William Paterson University in an effort to qualify for the State Bee. State Winners compete in Washington DC.
