BLACKWELL STREET ARTISTS

For the third consecutive year, Roxbury High School has participated in the Blackwell Street Artists 17th Annual High School Art Student Show.

This year seventeen pieces of artwork were submitted by Roxbury High School students and nine were accepted into the competition.  Of these nine, four pieces of artwork received special recognition at the Blackwell Street Artists awards ceremony on Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Atrium Gallery in the Morris County Courthouse.

Melody Idaakar's oil painting took first place in the painting category and Brittany Smith placed second for the photo she submitted.  Meghan Doran was awarded an Honorable Mention for her acrylic self-portrait and Scott Daniel also received an Honorable Mention for his photo.

Mrs. Joanna Hughes, Lead Teacher in Roxbury High School’s Art Department, states, “Approximately 630 pieces of art were entered and only 300 were chosen to compete.  We are very proud to have 4 students place.”
