The Roxbury School District proudly announces that
the following students have placed in this year’s State level Reflections
competition.
Corinne
Findlay, a Jefferson Elementary School student, has received the State
Award of Excellence for
Choreography in the primary division of the 2005 PTA Reflections
competition. Choreography is a
state only category - no national competition for this category, so this is the
highest level of achievement. Corrine’s
entry was jazz dancing and depicted this year’s theme, “A Different Kind of
Hero” by using choreography to demonstrate that her family members are
different kinds of heroes.
Alyssa
Weickert, a Lincoln/Roosevelt School student, has received the State
Award of Excellence for Literature in the intermediate
division. Alyssa’s entry did
advance onto the National level competition.
Her entry was about a family who faced unthinkable tragedy in a heroic
manner.
Emily Spicka, an Eisenhower Middle School student, received a State Award of Merit for Photography in the junior division. Emily’s entry will become part of next year's New Jersey PTA traveling Reflections exhibit. Her entry was a picture of two little girls, best friends, wearing matching shirts and all - best friends are different kinds of heroes.
