Dear Parents,
In the wake of the disaster as a result of Hurricane
Katrina, Roxbury has reached out to a community in need in Louisiana,
specifically, the Parish of St. Bernard. In
Louisiana, a parish is the equivalent to a large township or small county.
Most of the schools, businesses and churches, not to mention the personal
loss of homes and residences, have been lost.
We intend to assist this community throughout the rebuilding.
Classes in one of the buildings are expected to resume in
January 2006. This will be a
kindergarten through 12th grade for the children of essential people
in the community. To help the
children out we are preparing a backpack of supplies for each child.
Each student is asked to bring in a designated item that is assigned
below. If extra items are donated
they will be sent as classroom supplies.
Our children will be writing letters to these children as
well and will continue to have contact with them.
Thank you for your help,
Carol Pellet
