MAY POEM OF THE MONTH:
I MET A DRAGON FACE TO FACE
I met a dragon face to face
the year when I was ten,
I took a trip to outer space,
I braved a pirates’ den,
I wrestled with a wicked troll,
and fought a great white shark,
I trailed a rabbit down a hole,
I hunted for a snark.
I stowed aboard a submarine,
I opened magic doors,
I traveled in a time machine,
and searched for dinosaurs,
I climbed atop a giant’s head,
I found a pot of gold,
I did all this in books I read,
when I was ten years old.
By Jack Prelutsky

STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT LITTLE MISS MUFFET
Star light, Star bright, Little Miss Muffet
The first star I see tonight. Sat on a tuffet
I wish I may, I wish I might, Eating her curds and whey.
Have the wish I wish tonight. Along came a big spider
Who sat down beside her,
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

About our Kennedy Library:
Students come to their Library Class one period each week for a lesson about books, library and research skills, and to develop a life-long love of reading and learning. Each week students borrow books to take home to enjoy. They should return their books one week later at their next Library Class so other students may enjoy the books. They may renew their books for as long as they want them unless another student has requested the book.
Classes also come to the Library for research and special projects. Books needed for research reports may be borrowed until the student’s report is finished.
There are no fines for overdue books but students are encouraged to be responsible for returning their books on time as part of their library learning experience.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 973-584-3938 ext. 3006 or check with me for a time to meet in the Library. I’ll be happy to meet with you.
