Lincoln Roosevelt PTA Meeting

November 15, 2007

 

Meeting called to order at 7:36 pm

 

Secretary’s Report: Minutes from October 18th meeting were approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Monthly report reviewed and approved.

 

President’s Report:

  1. Thank you to all who worked on Haunted Hallway and volunteered for Parent Visitation Day. Thank you cards from students for hallway were shared.
  2. Mini-grants: Cameras have been purchased and will be kept in inventory in media room. One scanner has been donated, one purchased, another on the way from the high school. Social studies packet requirements have been met with other funds.
  3. Kathy Schwab has agreed to chair fundraising committee to look into alternatives for next year.
  4. Nike Reuse-a-shoe program will be rolled out after Thanksgiving. Flyers will be sent home in the next few weeks.
  5. Thanks to all who volunteered for Parent Visitation Day. All went smoothly.

 

Principal’s Report: Mr. Curtis and Mr. Deery were in attendance

  1. Thanks from teachers for digital cameras and video recorders.
  2. Thanks to all who helped with Haunted Hallway. It was a great success.
  3. RockRoots Assembly was well-received
  4. Throwaway cameras are in use.
  5. BJ’s has selected L/R as their school. Parents get a discount on membership/renewal; L/R gets $5 for every membership.
  6. Assembly re: Code Gold with the buses to be scheduled.
  7. School supplies list for next year will be revisited with teams.
  8. School received a donation from a parent of a 46” television which will be placed in the library.
  9. Save the Children: request for PTA to donate $25-30 toward support of sponsored child. (PTA voted in favor.)
  10. Mix-it-up day was a success. Goal is to do it once a marking period.
  11. Wednesday, 11/21 is a half-day, as are Monday-Friday, 11/26-11/30.

 

 

Committee Reports:

Board of Ed Rep: Mr. Brown’s retirement spoken about. Will not affect end-of-year concert, a new teacher will be hired by year end.

Reflections: School judging next week; county judging in December. Entries will be displayed in school during conference week. Already received 174 entries, up from 163 last year. New entries: two film, three music, one dance.

Cultural Arts: RockRoots program and K-9 Unit assembly well-received.

Membership: Membership now at 583; notice will go into newsletter. All but three staff members participating.

Haunted Hallway: Pictures from the day were shared and a CD with pictures will be sent to yearbook committee. Great job!

Family Nights: Bingo on Friday, 11/16 at 7 pm in the gymnasium.

Holiday Shopping:  Going on this week.

Sunshine Club: Up and running this year. Thank you notes sent to custodians in honor of National Custodian day in October. Several engagements and one upcoming wedding acknowledged.
