Family and Consumer Sciences

Introduction

Welcome to the wonderful world of food, fashion, fitness and child development. The foods area of Family and Consumer Sciences provides instruction ranging from basic cooking techniques to gourmet fare, with a focus on healthy diet choices. Career opportunities in the expanding field of Food Services/Hospitality are presented. In child-care, observation and interaction with infants and young children provide students with an exciting experience as they focus on the skills and decisions necessary for effective parenting and careers involving children. A course in Fashion Design has also been added to introduce students to the world of fashion and its many career opportunities. Courses in food preparation, child-care, fashion design and consumerism all contribute to our overall goal-the growth and development of a self-reliant, mature adult.

The Careers Classes are currently collecting: new baby clothes & toys for the Clara Mass organization; new, unwrapped toys for children in foster care. All donations can be placed in the class donation box in the Main
