PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH DEPARTMENT

 

NOTE:  Students who take a lab science will take Physical Education or Health/Driver Ed. for 4 days a week and will receive 3 credits for PE or 1 credit for Health/Driver Ed.  All other students will take Physical Education or Health/Driver Ed. 5 days a week and will receive 3 ¾ credits for PE

             or 1 ¼ credits for Health/Driver Ed.

 

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION                    Grades 9, 10, 11, 12                                3 or 3 ¾ Credits

        Students are scheduled for 3 quarters of instruction.   The curriculum consists of the following activities:

Grades 9 and 10 – Students are assigned activities for each PE marking period.

Grades 11 and 12 – During the 1st marking period and the 4th marking period students are offered a variety of elective activities to choose from.

    

HEALTH 9                                                         Grade 9                                                   1 or 1 ¼ Credits

        Students are scheduled for 1 quarter of instruction.  The curriculum consists of family living, nutrition, Conflict Resolution, and substance abuse education.

 

DRIVER EDUCATION                                 Grade 10                                                    1 or 1 ¼ Credits

        Students are scheduled for 1 quarter of instruction.  The curriculum consists of driver education theory, including substance abuse education, with an emphasis on the written state driver’s test.

 

HEALTH 11                                                        Grade 11                                                1 or 1 ¼ Credits

        Students are scheduled for 1 quarter of instruction.  The curriculum consists of community first aid, CPR and substance abuse education.  Students have an opportunity to receive CPR certification.

 

HEALTH 12                                                    Grade 12                                                    1 or 1 ¼ Credits

        Students are scheduled for 1 quarter of instruction.  The curriculum consists of family living and substance abuse education.
