2007-2010 Approved Technology Plan

Goal 1:  All students and teachers will have access to information technology in their classrooms,
   schools, communities and homes.

A.  Technology resources will be available when needed and networks will allow easy communication and shared resources among  schools.  Student and staff will have access to county, state, national and international distance learning activities.

B.  Ready access to information and appropriate processing software will facilitate the use of data to enhance instruction for all students and to increase efficiency and effectiveness of instruction and administration.

C.  Technology allows for daily communication with parents and the community; and technology resources are shared with the public library (Ref: http://www.roxburylibrary.org ), Community School (http://www.roxbury.org/communityschool )  and the Morris County Educational Technology Training Center (ETTC) (Ref: http://www.mcvts.org/ettc/ettcpage.htm )

 

Goal 2: All teachers will use technology effectively to help students achieve high academic standards.

A.  Staff will continue to have access to training opportunities so they can be knowledgeable and use technological tools as a valued part of the educational process.

B.   As new technologies emerge and applications are developed, staff will examine their potential to shape and enhance the learning/teaching environment.

C.  Staff will have access to technology at school and remotely to improve communications and work efficiency.

 

Goal 3: All students will have technology and information literacy skills.

A.    All students will utilize technology as basic tools to enhance learning in all areas of the curriculum, to develop critical thinking skills, and to research information. Technology will be utilized to communicate and interact with students and resources beyond the school building, to extend the gathering of information beyond district boundaries and to develop the habits of mind needed for continuous learning in the information age and to achieve mastery in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards (Ref: http://www.state.nj.us/njded/cccs/index.html )

B.    A variety of assessment tools will be utilized to measure students’ growth in the area of technology literacy as outline

Goal 4: Research and evaluation will improve the next generation of technology applications for teaching and
   learning.

A.   Analyze student-learning styles and choose appropriate methodologies and technologies to address individual
 student needs for innovative learning experiences.

B.  Explore and develop the use of technology to support alternative assessment such as electronic portfolio, rubrics, self-
  assessment and sharing multimedia professional portfolios on the Internet.

 

Goal 5: Digital content and networked applications will transform teaching and learning.

A.  An integrated video, voice and data network will allow transparent access within and among schools/administration
 building, the Internet, county, state, national and global resources to enhance instruction for all students and
 increases the effectiveness and efficiency of administration and management.  

B.  To expand district facilities that will be capable of managing the expanding need to handle district-wide information
  and current/emerging educational technologies.  Streamline and develop remote and wireless secured technology
  infrastructure within the school district.  

C. The new construction and/or retrofitting existing schools will continue, permitting ease of installation and use of
 emerging technologies IE: IP Telephony with real-time audio and video for Net conferencing and distance learning to
 support learning goals and provide 21st century learning experiences for students.
