Colorguard (Grades 5-9)

  • Colorguard image The colorguard program will focus on learning a 2-3 minute competitive colorguard routine using rifles and flags. Students will learn basic and intermediate colorguard skills that will be showcased at dance competitions in the spring. Students looking to compete with the program will be responsible for the purchase of their costume and entry fee requirements as well as the tuition for the course. All colorguard equipment will be supplied as needed for students. Personal equipment may be purchased on their own but is not required.

    No previous experience is necessary but a strong dance background is encouraged.

    This program is open to Roxbury and non-Roxbury residents.

     

    DATES: (Fridays) Nov. 30, Dec. 7, 14, 2018, Jan. 4, 11, 18, 25, Feb. 1, 8, 22, Mar. 1, 8, 15, 29, Apr. 5, 12, May 3, 10, 17, 31, June 7, 14, 21, 28, 2019

    TIME: 5:00-7:00 p.m. (2 hours each session) 

    LOCATION: Nixon Elementary School (275 Mt. Arlington Blvd, Landing, NJ), All-Purpose Room - Cafe Side

    COST: $300 per participant 

    INSTRUCTOR: Allyson Moreno from Generations of Dance, has been teaching colorguard for more than 20 years with various high school and competitive winter programs. She has marched with multiple ensembles including the Rutgers Marching Band, Knightbeat winterguard and the illustrious Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps. She looks forward to sharing her love of colorguard and the performing arts with her students.

    The Roxbury Community School is self-sufficient and a course/program must pay for itself. If there are not enough registrants, the course/program will be cancelled. The Coordinator reserves the right to remove from class those individuals who have not paid tuition.  
     
    There are no refunds for winter, spring, summer, or fall courses/camps AFTER the program starts. All cancellations must be received in writing to comschool@roxbury.org at least seven days prior to the start of the class for a refund. After that date, there will be no refunds.
