- More whole grains
- Less salt
- Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored mild is fat-free)
Free and Reduced Lunch and Breakfast:
Roxbury School District offers free or reduced lunch and breakfast to those who qualify. Application forms are available in English and Spanish from the School Nurse or you can access application on the "forms" link on the Health Office Website. Completed forms can be mailed to Marilyn McSpirit, Director of Food Services for Roxbury School District.
Parents can pay daily for breakfast or lunch or they have the option to pre-pay for meals. Cafeteria staff will allocate meal tickets to those who pre-pay. Parents need to keep track of how many meals they pre-pay for and remember to send in money as needed. If a child runs out of money on their pre-paid tickets or forgets their lunch, the cafeteria staff will allow child a onetime charge. A charge ticket will be sent home with student.
Breakfast Program Procedure:
Breakfasts are paid for and ordered one month in advance. Breakfast menus are sent home monthly. Students pick days they would like breakfast, circles those days on the menu, and sends in appropriate funds. Meals are prepared each day. Teachers pick up breakfasts in the cafeteria and bring them to the classroom. Students eat their meals upon entering classroom and prior to starting their day.
