Welcome to P.E.A.K.!
Roxbury School District's Gifted & Talented Programming for K-6, Providing Enrichment and Accelerated Knowledge
Program Goal & Objectives
The goal of the Roxbury Public Schools' P.E.A.K. Program is to provide meaningful experiences, in the most effective and efficient of ways, in order to cultivate an environment where students can develop and maximize their gifts and talents in core content areas.
We intend to create learning opportunities that promote:
- personal goal setting
- civic engagement
- an attitude of inquiry
Participation in this program is expected to empower students to strengthen their behavioral and cognitive abilities and expound upon their interests within core content areas.
To achieve these goals, students engage in PBL (problem-based learning) tasks throughout the school year that follow the engineering design process:
Examples of PBL tasks include:
- building bridges & towers
- creating mazes
- making water filters
- building catapults
- building roller coasters using Little Bits
Roxbury School District's P.E.A.K. Programming for Kindergarten through Grade 6 offers students opportunities to both expand upon the foundations provided within the classroom, and to grow into lifelong scholars by encouraging the development of their own intrinsic motivation to become active model citizens of our society.
