  • Out Of My Mind

by Sharon Drapper Year Published: 2010

A fantastic book! If you didn't chose this as your 8th grade summer reading novel, I recommend it! It tells the story of a middle school girl with her disability unable to speak, however, she finds her voice and it's inspirational.

  • The Lightning Thief

by Rick Riordan Year Published: 2005

An 8th grade popular book in the fantasy genre. A summer reading option. While this isn't my first genre to pick up, I liked the Percy Jackson tale of heroism and friendship.

Another 8th grade summer reading option. A great book told from the perspective of a young girl during the Holocaust. I liked this one and still have not seen the movie!

  • Eleanor and Park

One of the 8th grade summer reading novels. I really liked this book. It is centered around two teenagers who don't always connect with their peers, however they were able to find common likes between the two of them.
