    Dear Parent or Guardian:

ARAMARK Education is proud to be entering our third year of service to the students of Roxbury Township Public Schools.  The K-8 schools operate under the guidelines of the National School Lunch program to meet the following standards:

    • One third of a child’s daily calorie requirement
    • < 30% calories from fat
    • < 10% calories from saturated fat
    • One third of the RDA for protein, calcium, iron, Vitamin A and Vitamin C

In the elementary schools, we will offer a hot sandwich, entrée salad, cold sandwich, “bagel bag”, hummus and veggie plate, or Sunbutter and Jelly sandwich in addition to the “Daily Special” listed on the monthly menu.  In Eisenhower, students will select from a wide variety of hot and cold entrees, salads and sandwiches, pizzas, and a Fresh Fruit and Yogurt Bar.  A student lunch consists of at least 3 and as many as 5 of the following:  Meat / Meat Alternate; Bread / Grain; Vegetable; Fruit; and Low-Fat or Flavored Skim Milk. We encourage students to select from a variety of fruits, raw vegetables and tossed salad, all available daily.

The High School will follow the district’s wellness policy #8505. The policy can be found at http://www.straussesmay.com/seportal/Public/DistrictPolicy.aspx?policyid=8505&search=nutrition&id=60018ce02aeb4872b01343257b67f55d

The cost of student lunch in grades K-6 is $3.00, and for Eisenhower students is $3.50.  Roxbury High School will no longer participate in the National School Lunch Program, but students will be able to select a “lunch of the day” for $4.00. Free and reduced-eligible students will continue to receive those benefits. The cost of a reduced lunch will be $0.40. Free and reduced applications can be downloaded from the district website www.roxbury.org. You will find it under quick links on the left hand side.

Our district utilizes a computerized POS (Point of Sale) system in the cafeterias.  Elementary students use ID cards which are scanned into the computer at the cashier station.  Middle and High School students can pay for lunch by using a check, cash, or entering their six digit student number at the cashier station.  If you would like your child to be able to purchase “Lunch Only”, please notify the Roxbury Food Service office at 973-584-1200 ext. 1252.

Payments to your K-6 student’s account may be made by sending cash or check in an envelope marked with your child’s name and classroom teacher.  Please note your child’s name on any payments made by check along with their ID number.  Please make payments out to Roxbury Township Public Schools.  Online payments may be made from the mySchoolBucks link on the district’s website www.roxbury.org.  Elementary students are encouraged to turn in payments with the morning lunch count which each teacher takes.  Cash is still accepted in all of our cafeterias, but we hope that you will take advantage of our debit system, because reducing the amount of cash-handling in our lunch lines keeps the lines moving rapidly.

    Yours In Service,
