About Lincoln-Roosevelt School
State Report Card Narrative for 2016-2017
Roxbury’s Lincoln-Roosevelt School has a rich history of providing students with the academic and social tools that have led former students to successful careers in an ever-changing and ever-expanding global market. The tradition of excellence in education continues as our current enrollment of over five hundred students enjoys the many opportunities available to them. The school’s schedule includes a period each day (LAP) where students may choose to participate in enrichment opportunities such as band, orchestra, or choir, or to receive extra help from their classroom teachers. We are fortunate to have three full time music teachers, in addition to an itinerant string teacher. Our art program allows students to explore both two dimensional and three dimensional creative opportunities.
A well-equipped library/media center offers students a variety of research pursuits. Chrome books are available to students, both in the media center and in their classrooms.
A great deal of collaboration occurs among the teachers at each grade level, using a learning community format to provide interdisciplinary experiences when possible. This year we have dedicated a large classroom for teachers to combine their classes for related activities.
Clubs and other after-school activities complement our curricular offerings and allow our students yet another venue to explore a wide range of interests.
The entire faculty and staff at Lincoln-Roosevelt shares the pride the students feel from making the right “choices” each day. We continually reevaluate our efforts to make the education of children both meaningful and fun. We trust that the classes of 2023 and 2024 will look back on their formative years at Lincoln- Roosevelt with great appreciation.
