Roxbury Schools Seeks Community Input in Search of Next Superintendent

ROXBURY, NJ (March 14, 2023) – Roxbury School District has seen the successful implementation of many exciting innovations in recent years under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Loretta Radulic. With her pending retirement at the end of this school year, the Roxbury Board of Education has launched a search to find a new superintendent who can continue to advance opportunities for our children. The search program, under the guidance of the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA), will include provisions for students, parents, staff, and the community at large to have a voice in defining a vision for the district and in establishing the criteria that will be used to evaluate candidates for superintendent.

Charlene Peterson, Field Service Representative for the NJSBA, led a presentation of the Roxbury superintendent search program at a special meeting of the Board of Education on Thursday, March 9th at Eisenhower Middle School. Peterson provided an overview of the search program, schedule, and community survey and then facilitated a public session where those in attendance could voice their opinions and suggestions regarding their vision for the future of the district and the criteria for selecting a new superintendent.

Peterson’s presentation was recorded and a link provided on the Superintendent Search Public Information Page so those who could not attend could still have the benefit of that information before they take the community survey.

Peterson will facilitate another public session, this time virtually via Google Meet, for those to voice their opinions and suggestions regarding their vision for the future of the district and the criteria for selecting a new superintendent on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m. Members of the community can access the Google Meet here.

“We encourage members from all segments of the Roxbury and Mt. Arlington communities to complete the community survey. Community input is vital to the establishment of the evaluation criteria for selection of a new superintendent and in shaping our vision for the future of the district,” shared Roxbury Board of Education President Leo Coakley.

All stakeholders (students, parents, staff, and the community at large) are encouraged to complete the community input survey found online at www.roxbury.org/SuperSearch. The survey will close on Monday, March 27th, the same deadline date for all interested applicants to apply for this position.

Feedback shared in the community input surveys will also serve as a foundation for the development of an updated Strategic Plan which will take place over the summer. District goals established each year for the next several years will be based on this plan.
