The RHS Performing Arts Department Presents Roxbury Choir Alumni Messiah Sing

ROXBURY, NJ (December 12, 2022) – The Roxbury Performing Arts Department will present the Roxbury Alumni Messiah Sing on Saturday, December 17th from 3-7pm in the Roxbury High School Auditorium located at 1 Bryant Drive in Succasunna. Admission is free.

This event is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first time the Roxbury Choirs sang Handel’s famous oratorio, The Messiah, in December of 1972. The tradition of singing a large portion of this work continued for over two decades, and still lives on in the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus at every Roxbury High School Winter Choir Concert.

This free event is open to all Roxbury Choir Alumni, whether you were a part of the Messiah tradition or not. The general public is also welcome to attend to hear the informal performance or to sing along. Several of the choruses from the work will be performed, with former Roxbury Choral Conductors Bud Beavers and Lorraine Lynch at the podium.

In addition, many of the solos will be sung by choir alumni and current Roxbury Choir Director, Patrick Hachey. As special guests, Roxbury High School’s current top choir, Classic Sounds Honors, will sing some of their own repertoire for the audience.
