ROXBURY, NJ (April 1, 2021) – Franklin Elementary School’s Early Act Club was been busy this past March completing two service projects, one to help the community and the other to inform.

Early Act Club is an elementary student version of Rotary and the club completes local, national, and global service.

Most recently, its young members chose to inform the public about water pollution as an area in our world to help. Students researched the topic by viewing a documentary and then compiled a list of ways people can help stop water pollution and the reasons why. Early Act Club Advisor Jen Maurer used Flipgrid to create a public service announcement video featuring the club members. She edited the clips together to make a YouTube video that was then shared with all Franklin students, staff, and families to help make a difference and educate others about water pollution. Early Act members also wanted to help out their fellow man and chose local hunger as another important cause. The students collaborated during an online club meeting to design a digital flyer for a Franklin School Food Drive. Their efforts produced a total of 523 food items collected to help Roxbury families in need through Roxbury Social Services.
