Roxbury High School Competition Cheerleaders Win Regionals

ROXBURY, NJ (December 4, 2018) – Congratulations to the Roxbury Competition Cheerleading team under the direction of coaches Wendy Schneider, Gail LaCosta, and Erin Carueto on winning the Regional Championship in the Super Varsity Division at the Empire Regionals hosted by the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) on December 2nd at Nassau Community College. 

Roxbury’s Competition Cheer Team is made of students from grades 8-12 and includes Ashley Yau, Elizabeth Poissant, Lindsey Kaiser, Deanna Maugeri, Elizabeth McDonald, Megan Merola, Adriana Hrelja, Alexandra Schulz, Allyson Calanni, Kaity Profaca, Morgan Heddy, Sarah Hills, Alexis Merola, Riley Gallagher, Willow Bradley, Lia Santiago, Angelina Marasco, Chanel Hairston-Jackson, Dana Mendelsohn, Gianna Rosario, Kirsten Mans, and Lindsey Yau. 

Roxbury Cheer Captains In addition to being Regional Champions, the team also earned two bids to the National Cheerleading Championships in both the Super Varsity Division and the Game Day Division. 

This competition is one of only three local competitions where cheerleading teams compete for regional champions as well as a chance to earn a bid to the National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida in February 2019. 

Founded in 1974, UCA is the largest provider of cheerleading camps and competitions in the world. UCA hosts over 50 regional events that serve as qualifiers to the National High School Cheerleading Championship and the International All Star Championship at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida. These Championships are nationally televised on ESPN, ESPN2 and CBS Sports to over 100 million homes and 32 countries nationwide each year.
