Square Dancing at Franklin School

Franklin Families Square Dancing

ROXBURY, NJ (March 7, 2019) – Families at Franklin Elementary School in Roxbury Township were feeling a “little bit country” at their annual Square Dance Night on February 7th. Students became the teachers showing their parents all the square dance moves they learned during their recent dance unit.

Besides square dance songs, parents and students also danced to favorites like the Macarena, the Alley Cat, the Hokey Pokey, and Cotton Eye Joe.

Physical Education Teacher Russell Redmond shared, “As usual, the gym was filled and a great time was had by all”!

Roxbury Schools work to promote physical activity beyond school hours as it is critical to tie the school and home life together. With events like this, Roxbury takes an active role in influencing our students and their family’s health through increased physical activity which also ties into one of the district goals this year of focusing on health and wellness by creating an economically viable, safe, friendly atmosphere for students, staff, and community members equipped to inspire all learners to achieve their potential.
